Business Benefits of Factory Child Friendly Spaces Highlighted by The Guardian
The Guardian recently reported on ICTI Care's Family Friendly Factory Spaces (also known as Factory Child Friendly Spaces) scheme, which was implemented by CCR CSR in two Guangdong toy factories in 2016.
The scheme brought children and parents together over the summer holidays, many of whom were left behind in their home villages throughout the year. “In poor areas parents can often only afford to come back once a year, or even once every two years,” Brise Lee, a manager at ICTI Care, told the Guardian. The scheme helped workers improve relationships with their children and build up stronger bonds. But the scheme brought business benefits too. According to Mark Robertson, Director of Communications and Stakeholder Engagement at ICTI Care, both factories reported improvements in retention rates among workers who participated, higher levels of trust and better employee-management relationships.
